Lewis & Clark – Astronauts of the 1800s.
This Fantasy RV Tour was complex, exhausting, amazing, scintillating and 45 days long. To give you an idea I am sharing the itinerary. I will add photos for illustration in later posts. We also added stops along the way if certain places interested us especially state parks and historical monuments or sites.

DAY 1-3 ST CHARLES, MO -? Welcome Dinner , St Louis Guided Bus Tour, William Clark Gravesite Camp River Dubois, Daniel Boone Home, Jefferson National Gateway & Arch. Lewis & Clark Boatyard & Museum. **
DAY 4 ARROW ROCK, MO - MILES 143 – Explore Arrow Rock – historic town near Lewis & Clarkbstop on Missouri River. *
DAY 5-7 PLATTE CITY MO - MILES 127 – Kansas City Guided Bus , Case Point , Lewis & Clark Statue, WWI Museum & Monument, Arabia Steamboat - also Independence MO – President Truman Library & Museum ***
DAY 8-9 GREENWOOD, NE - MILES 172 – Lewis & Clark Monument at Council Bluffs & Western Historic Trail Center • Boys Town Visit, Melodrama Performance at Eugene Mahoney State Park **
DAY 10 NORTH SIOUX CITY, SD - MILES 135 , Fort Atchinson, Lewis and Clark State Park Museum, Sergeant Floyd Monument, Sioux City L&C Discovery Center **
DAY 11 OACOMA, SD - MILES 218 – Aktu Lakota First People’s Museum **
DAY 12 PIERRE, SD – MILES 82 – Pierre City Tour & South Dakota Heritage Museum , Oahe Dam *
DAY 13-16 BISMARCK, ND – MILES 210 – Bismarck City Tour, On-a-Slant Indian Village, North Dakota Heritage Center , Fort Abraham Lincoln , General George Custer’s Home • Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center • Fort Mandan Tour & Missouri Muzzle Loaders Reenactment and chance to shoot one! ***
DAY 17-18 MEDORA, ND MILES 134 – Explored Medora & enjoyed Musical Theater Performance. Don’t miss Painted Canyon & Theodore Roosevelt National Park – our first bison herd!****
DAY 19 FORT PECK, MT MILES 199 – Ft Peck Dam and Lake , Ft Peck – town built by Dam construction – old hotel had neat bar ***
DAY 20 HAVRE, MT – we rested on this stop but there is a tour of city built underground after a big fire – Havre Underground Tour, Wahkpa Chugn Buffalo Jump – where Native people killed bison by driving them off cliffs.
DAY 21-23 EAST GLACIER, MT - MILES 174 - Glacier National Park Tour • Glacier Lodge &Many Glacier area – Lodges and scenic views – magnificent *****
DAY 24-26 GREAT FALLS MT – MILES 142 Lewis & Clark Honor Guard, Great Falls, Ryan Dam & Falls , Black Eagle Falls , Portage Route • Charlie Russell Art Museum & the Sip & Dip – Mermaid Bar ****
DAY 27-28 HELENA, MT MILES 91 – Last Chance Ranch Dinner , Helena Guided Tour , Gates of Mountains Boat Cruise & Tour ***** Awesome!
DAY 29-30 DILLON, MT MILES 132 – Missouri Headwaters State Park, Lemhi Pass & Camp Fortunate, Bannock State Park & Bannock Ghost Town Tour ****
DAY 31-32 LOLO, MT MILES 183 – Big Hole National Battlefield – Nez Perce Memorial site. ****
DAY 33-34 OROFINO, ID MILES 163 – High Country Inn, Dworsak Dam & Fish Hatchery * We lost power in the RV park on this night – never knew why. Lewis & Clark camped near here before river changed direction.
DAY 35-36 CLARKSTON, WA MILES 54 – Hells Canyon Jet Boat Cruise ***** Outstanding & exciting
DAY 37 BOARDMAN, OR - MILES 176 – Stop along Clearwater River + Columbia River *
DAY 38-41 PORTLAND, OR MILES 163 – Columbia Gorge Guided Bus Tour, Vista Point, Cascade Locks, Multnomah Falls, Bonneville Dam & Fish Ladder, Columbia Gorge, Sternwheeler Ride, Mt St Helens, Johnston Ridge Observatory ***** Beautiful!
DAY 42-45 WARRENTON, OR - MILES 91 _ Warrenton Guided Bus Tour , Fort Clatsop Knappton Heritage Cove , Dismal Nitch • Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center , Pacific Ocean! Farewell Dinner ****
